STR1 Stargazer, Metal Mass Detector is a detection system that provides relay output according to the density of the metal mass coming on it. It is generally used in car park applications to detect the presence of a vehicle on the ground in automatic opening and closing of barriers or automatic ticket cutting systems.

The system works by connecting several turns of cable laid in the ground to the detector board. As a result of this connection, an electromagnetic field is created on the asphalt. Changes in the field are detected when a metal object (e.g. a vehicle) enters this field and a relay output is generated accordingly.

In this way, vehicle presence is reliably detected and data is provided to automation systems.
